Mal sehen, was noch kommt...

A week ago, I reviewed Wolfenstein, the most recent installment in the popular franchise. As I pointed out, the lack of originality that showed in the name seemed to also affect gameplay quite a bit. After I have finished the game (see pics in my Wolfenstein Gallery), I have some more good and also some more bad to say about the game. Read on after the break...

Me and Wolfenstein, we go way back. In 1992, I played the shareware version of Wolfenstein 3D when it was actually legal in Germany (a week or so; got the disk off an imported english games magazine for a gazillion bucks). Wolf3D’s level editor was awesome on a stick. I loved Return to Castle Wolfenstein and just today, I picked up the newest addition to the Wolfenstein franchise, aptly named, erm, Wolfenstein.

Over the last months, a drought has started in this blog and the two or three readers that might still be left deserve a status update. In fact, I would like to recap the last couple of months to get my head clear and tell all of you what’s been going on.

As a casual gamer who actually got over his WoW addiction (until November 13th... ), I regularly read up on new PS3 games, mostly out of a feign interest in how crappy most output for “my” console is. I don’t really read any single web site too often - after that whole Jeff Gerstmann disaster, my belief in game reviewers’ independence was pretty much shattered. However, I really love The Escapist Magazine and especially the “Zero Punctuation” reviews. They are, simply put, hilarious, but see for yourself (in the extended entry).

I just cancelled my World of Warcraft account. I not only have no time anymore, I also don’t feel any motivation to push my level 65 Orc Warrior to 70 in order to get the flying mount, and then raid every day for 30 hours...

I guess when winter comes and I have too much free time, I can pick up the character again, deactivated accounts are kept for 6 months.

Normalerweise blogge ich ja über sowas nicht, aber heute muß es mal sein: Endlich Level 60!

Jetzt kann das richtige Leben losgehen (wenn man den anderen 60ern glauben kann).
