Here you will find the documentation:
http://www.apsstandard.com/doc/
Thanks, but that doesn’t help me at all. I pointed out in the article that I had read these documents. Quote: “the only freely available docs seem to be the standards document and ISV guidelines, both of which don’t really help me.” - which are exactly those documents you linked.
I’m able to click on a “documentation” link, but the documentation provided is not conclusive enough.
I can download all documents on this site. And there is the packaging standard descriped.
You need an special directory structur and entry point scripts for installing/upgrading/remove and so on. Perhaps you searching for something other... Peter
Peter,
if you had actually read my blog entry, you would have noticed that I do not want to package anything. On the contrary, I want to unpackage something. That is not a miracle seeing that I am a hoster and not an application developer.
Ok at syscp.org they have implemented the hosting part:
https://websvn.syscp.org/browser/SysCP/trunk/syscp/scripts/cron_apsinstaller.php and https://websvn.syscp.org/browser/SysCP/trunk/syscp/lib/class_apsinstaller.php as starting point, but this is integrated into syscp, but perhaps it will save you some time. Peter
That looks very interesting indeed, thanks!
I developed a APS solution. The documentation is so poor and I found myself wishing someone had made a class to manage APS, so I wouldn’t have to go through it all, I’m somewhat surprised none exist. So, feel free
It also requires execution (root?) permissions on the webserver to perform the installation, which is a somewhat dodgy idea.
At the moment there is no publicily available documentation for implementing your own APS-compatible hosting environment.
However, you definitely can contact the APS team and get some help from them. (Assuming that you do not want to follow “easy” way by getting an APS-aware control panel like Plesk 9)
Have you found a solution for you? I would very interested in the same issue, so please if you’ve found some example scripts since then and and/or if you can make them availalble in any way, please contact me.
Cheers. |
